Run FFXIV. Open GShade window by pressing Shift+F2. On the top of the window, just below the menu bar is the name of the preset that you're using. Click on it and navigate to the directory that you're just created (Clicking on .. is equal to Up in Windows Explorer). Select the preset that you're just created.

I personally use the Alive Reshade including the RTGI (ray tracing) stuff. Looks great and the gameplay variant works fine in gaming. The only caveats are that I had to toss some ray tracing guy 5 dollars on Patreon and that I have a monster of a computer (4090, 7900X3D) because this Reshade along with various texture/model overhaul mods is heavy on XIV.I am a bit of a perfectionist so it is kind of bothering me. I would use Reshade, but as far as I have read that if you aren't using it for screenshots the presets are pretty limited as to what they change.
