The United States Holocaust Memorial Museum (USHMM) is the United States' official memorial to the Holocaust. Adjacent to the National Mall in Washington, D.C. , the USHMM provides for the documentation, study, and interpretation of Holocaust history. The Holocaust, the state-sponsored persecution and murder of European Jews by Nazi Germany and its collaborators, is history’s most extreme example of antisemitism. Violent antisemitism and hatred did not end with the defeat of Nazi Germany. It is important to stand up to antisemitism in all of its forms today.
