The result is a highly singular collection that includes not just art but also flowers and plants, textiles, furniture, and architecture. Purchased by Isabella Stewart Gardner from Parish-Watson & Co., New York for $17,500, through Denman Ross (1853-1935), art collector and design theorist, on 14 December 1922. Stolen in 1990.
